A Busted Blogger?

Parishioners in one Seattle Catholic Church learned this week that their parish priest was relieved of his duties. According to a letter written by the Archdiocese and shared with the community of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Rev. Reynaldo Bocateja has not been accused of sexual abuse, child abuse or "anything illegal".

Then, what's the matter? This, reported by the Tacoma News Tribune:
"A recent assessment of his use of the Internet calls into question his ability to minister in the Archdiocese with trust and authority," according to a letter written by Seattle Archbishop Alex Brunett.
The article reports that the displaced priest has been returned to his native Philippiness. (Like they don't have internet access there?)

Innocent until proven guilty, I know. But, this one has me a bit curious. Yeah, maybe he had a problem with porn or online gambling. Or, do you suppose the reverend is an obsessed blogger? I understand blogging can become quite addictive...

Blogging addictive? Who, me... what, you want to take away my computer, what, I'm not addicted, no, no, I'm just checking other blogs because I want to not because I have to, I mean it'd be crazy if I were addicted, can you spare a keyboard, mine's getting worn down, not because I'm addicted or anything, really I'm not.

Oh good we don't have internet here in the Philippines, well sorry dear, whatever you posted just goes to show how poor travelled you are you. Narrow minded should I say! You are not adept to cultures right! Read and use the internet in informing you!

Aquarina -- I was being sarcastic. Of course the Internet is in the Philippines. (And, for the record, I am pretty well traveled.)

So, okay you're well travelled. Okay! Girl, you better have to be careful with your words. Just when you write, think outside the box! Like in this case, you are "assuming" that MAYBE the priest had problems with porn or online gambling. Given that you have stated the word MAYBE - but still the publishing of such an assumption just seem so judgemental. You don't even know what the real issue is and you don't know the priest personally. So that doesn't give you the right mark something on him. It's just unfair that he can't even speak for his own self while people like you and probably others who came across what you just posted are already marking him as someone who has done so much wrong. I am saying this because I really don't think you are being fair. Priests are also humans, subject to temptations and sins just like you are... People like you CLAIM TO BE CHRISTIANS... but look at your deeds. It's just so absurd. Why CafeCath, do you personally know the person and do you know what damage you must have caused him? Nohhh!
What if YOU - a claimed Christian has done something wrong which is just too way-off of the persona that you project and people judge you. Or say what if this thing that you have done will be done unto you? Would you be pleased? It would really surprise me if you give a hypocrite YES for an answer.
You know what, as Christians, you are not supposed to judge others, for sure you are not even righteous and being such (if only you were) doesn't give you the right to judge. =)
I really do think that you have to have time to think about how to put finesse into your words being a Christian yourself! And if you enjoy sarcasm, make it a point that you are double-edging it with an intelligent sense so that people like me won't mistake you as all 'blah, blah and blah' without thinking. And do gain some EQ, that you don't bump other Christians... er Filipino Christians who also using the internet. =)
Sorry CafeCath, I may seem sarcastic but i'm just returning the favor -- with flare! =) But well anyway, I do believe in you. You have a talent! Just keep honing it and pattern it in a Christian way!
Thank you and have a great day!

Aquarina/fyt,
Like I said: Innocent until proven guilty. Meanwhile, I'm just curious.

Thanks and God bless.

My cousin was just ordained a priest, and I'm always joking with him in my emails and links. Now I'm gonna think twice before I type.
